Humble Bundle Mojam is Over

So this weekend's Humble Bundle event is over.
Almost 60 hours of work went into Mojang's "Catacomb Snatch" and the Wolfire Games and Oxeye Game Studio guys are still working hard on their contributions for Charity.

Catacomb Snatch really shaped up nicely on this last day, and its a fun game for up to two people involving mummies, guns, bombs and rails.
Both the 2D graphics and the soundtrack are amazing pieces of art and donating is worth it alone for those already.
Of course, the game itself, being a 2-Person-Shoot'em-Up-slash-RTS-Game is extremely entertaining!

Officially, the event is over, but they decided to go OVERTIME
Now not only officially but completely over!

Why You Shouldn't Bother: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Free Weekend

Steam is known for hosting Free Weekends once in a while, some introducing less-popular Indie games, others boosting the playerbase of already successful or rather unknown games, but sometimes even big blockbusters offering to join the Multiplayer mode for a few days.

These Free Weekends usually come with discounts, with most franchises going down at least 50% during that time.
It makes sense, getting people to test your game for a limited timeframe with the option to permanently add it to their libraries at a discounted price: Get them hooked, make them buy!

This Weekend you can play Call of Duty's latest "Modern Warfare 3" until Sunday, 1pm PST.

The Humble Bundle Mojam

The Humble Bundle Team and Mojang have just started their "Mojam"-Project.
Over the next 60 hours, Mojang, creators of Minecraft, will develop a simple Game from scratch. The whole process is gonna be streamed live via Twitch.tv and both Genre and Setting have been open for the community to decide over the last few days.

As Humble Bundle followers will know, it is all about Charity. Mojang and HB have decided to let you buy the result of these 60 hours for whatever price and get your money straight to either Child's Play, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, charity: water or the American Red Cross.
You even decide which organisation gets how much out of your donation. There's no Humble Tip this time, nothing goes to Mojang - it is pure charity!

The result of the Genre/Setting-Polls are the following:

Mojang is tackling a real-time strategy shoot 'em up with a steampunk ancient Egypt theme!

Well, if that's what the Community decided (over 100.000 users' votes!), then Mojang will try their best to make something playable out of it.
They're brainstorming as I type this post, and I'm really curious what will happen til the end of the weekend...

I'll certainly have fun watching Notch and co at work - oh, and before I forget, Notch agreed to have his beard shaven if the bundle collects at least $1.000.000!

All tracks are classical compositions that have been around for ages, but have been rearranged in a magnificent way to fit into the world of Catherine.
