In my opinion, this soundtrack is testament to what has become of Square Enix, and stands in great contrast to the soundtracks I used to love, that made me pause the game just to listen for a while.
Obviously, these times are over, at least when it comes to SE, but I hope you'll still appreciate this little upload regardless.

This soundtrack is beyond anything I have ever heared...some tracks are okay, beautiful even but... you wanna see an example of how to NOT make a theme then klick right here:

If the players have to fucking listen to this kind of stuff every time they ride a chocobo or want to do the racing "minigame" with all  the "X"/"A" button pressing...this might be a strain on ones ears.

Guess FFXIII-2 continiues to do one thing: split the "fanbase" once more. Now I'm wondering what scores the japanese will give that game even more.

Thanks for the upload oh darkish priest, even though I'd rather stay with those from Atelier or "retro" Final Fantasy games.

I'll give it a try but I'm not expecting anything memorable.

I'm a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu but I like videogame cover music a lot too. The chocobo song was funny in that aspect, I like the guitar a lot but I cannot stand that screamo voice (it sucks so much). The other song, it's kind of cool but doesn't go well with Final Fantasy IMO.

Times are changing, pleople are changing, lets see whats happens with FF in the next years.

My god, be a bit more of a drama queen. "Testament of what Square Enix has become"?

1) Plenty of great games from Square Enix in recent years (Dissidia 1 & 012, The World Ends With You, Birth By Sleep, Nier, Dragon Quest IX, Type-0 and now XIII-2) with awesome OSTs (Nier's OST in particular is pretty much the best OST in the last 5-10 years and right up there as one of the finest pieces of game music ever).

2) There are a lot of awesome "traditional" tracks and some nice experimentation on this OST, even if not all of them work (Invisible Invaders, for example, has a very nice instrumental side, but the rap just doesn't flow). Not to even mention the past two OSTs for XIII & XII have been a couple of THE BEST of the series (Hamauzu & Sakimoto > Uematsu).

And man you people are taking the Crazy Chocobo song WAY too seriously. Even the name implies that it's supposed to be a crazy-ass version of the theme. Just laugh with it instead of having a fucking stick up your ass.

1) Of your "plenty of great games", Dissidia 012 was the only that I found to be somehow "exciting" to play, yet its only due to the first Dissidia which comes along as a test product now. if 012 was the -only- Dissidia, I'd have cheered for it, but this is just the product of a game that went dull too fast without providing much new substance but fixing issues.
Birth by Sleep had a fine battle system, yet the game was way too short, uninspiring and plot developments were bland and dully presented. You could say it suffered from being watered down by too much Disney and lost the KH-charme due to straying too far from the main quest.
Type-0 might look cool for a PSP title, yet gameplay-wise it's a ruin. A game I wouldn't regret not getting a western release at all. And XIII-2... mixed bag of all the stuff they couldn't put into other games, from Pokemanz to copying other games and trying to resemble the early XIII-trailers from '06.
I sincerely hope you did not rely on Famitsu-ratings for these games, though.

2) I honestly can't agree with XIII having such a great soundtrack. XII however was really enjoyable, and that was expected considering the row of composers working on it (yes, including Uematsu). Still, XII was meant to be similar to the Soundtracks of Tactics and Vagrant Story, so it'd be horrible if they'd missed that one.

Sorry, but the Crazy Chocobo track is quite symbolical for the absolute pain in the arse that XIII-2 is, and I wouldn't be surprised if Serah and Noel were bleeding from their butts after a few chocobo rides, judging from that track.
Also, I'm a fan of rock, metal and the likes, which makes it even harder to stand.
