ULTRAMARINES the Movie Delayed!

Sad news, but it's true.
The Worldwide Release got delayed due to not further specified reasons.

But I really have to acknowledge Codex Pictures' apologies!
It's been a while since a publisher apologized to it's customers with such honesty.

Instead of simply telling people 'shit happens' or ignoring the problem, like Game Publishers pull of all the time,
CP actually did not only post a news on their site, but also sent out emails to all those who preordered the DVD Collection.

RE: Order xxxxxxxx

Unfortunately, due to a production issue outside of our control, we are not able to start shipping your order for the ULTRAMARINES DVD Collector's Set today, November 29th as planned. We are working around the clock with our third party suppliers to resolve the issue as soon as possible and hope to be able to give you details of a new ship date tomorrow.

We at Codex Pictures know you will be very disappointed not to receive your DVD as soon as anticipated and are equally distressed ourselves that this has happened.

Please accept our sincere apologies and rest assured we are doing everything we can to resolve the issue and get your order to you quickly.

Codex Pictures

Now THAT is an apology I can and will accept.
I am positive that they will solve the problem in no time and people worldwide will hold the Movie in their hands before Christmas.

For those who haven't already preordered:
There are still copies left. Grab your's today!

EDIT:
Quick Update via Mail, again, +rep to Codex Pictures!

As we advised yesterday, due to a production issue outside our control, we were not able to start shipping the complete Ultramarines DVD collector’s set on November 29th 2010 as planned.

We have teams in the UK, US and Europe working around the clock to resolve the issue.

At this time, we are hoping that orders can start to ship next week. In the meantime, we will keep you informed as soon as we receive more information.

Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for this delay to you receiving your Ultramarines DVD.

Sincerely,

Codex Pictures

Another small Update (December 02), this time interacting with people's questions:

We regret to tell you that we are not yet in a position to confirm a dispatch date for Ultramarines, although we still anticipate shipping to commence next week. Both the Codex team and our suppliers are continuing to work flat out to make this happen.

Some of you waiting for your order have asked us what the problem is. We would like to reassure you the issue is not with the movie itself, but with one of the other components of the collector’s set.

Once more, please accept our sincere apologies for the delay. We will posting further updates on www.ultramarinesthemovie.com and emailing all existing customers as soon as we have more news.

Black★Rock Shooter BD-Limited Edition

It's been a while since I last mentioned Black★Rock Shooter on here;
But a couple of days ago the Bluray went on preorder at our usual shops.
(Otacute and Hobby Search being my favorites)

The limited Edition usually comes at 4000yen, while the BluRay-only costs 2000yen.
I, for one, can't resist the urge to own the DVD as well (for compatibility), and 300 pages of Storyboard sound just too sweet...
Would mentioning the artwork book and the mini-nendoroids of BRS and Dead Master be overkill?

I guess I'm one of the few that really loved the Black★Rock Shooter OVA.
I'm kinda hyped for the redone scenes, the artworks and well, the massively better quality.
Maybe readjusting the Subs would be a nice thing?

Well, release is scheduled for the end of December, so I won't get the hardcopy til January.
Still, I did reserve a copy for my own joy~

Recettear on Sale!

It isn't DIRECTLY on sale, but part of the Indie Story Pack on Steam.

The Pack is only $5 / 4,49€ -
Recettear alone costs 15€, though it's worth much more than that!

I already gifted one copy to a fellow Colorless, 5 bucks are a great opportunity!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hardware-Upgrade incoming!

So I just got my money sorted.
That screamed 'UPGRADE YOUR COMPUTER!111!'

Well, I'm usually upgrading some parts of my computer for christmas.
It's like a tradition to me.

I got this Computer as a Christmas present.
Only the case and a single harddrive have seen these times back then.

Another year later, I got a new sound system, video card (because the old one heavily sucked...) and some more stuff.

Years later, for Christmas, I got a new Mainboard and CPU which is still inside of it.
AMD Athlon 64 X2; DualCore, 1.9GHz cores.

Last year, I bought a new video card, because the old, rocking one was still AGP, but my board didn't provide that slot anymore.
My family gifted me a new Screen, my first flat and well, I love it.

But this year will be more expensive than all these years before!
I order a full upgrade;
Mainboard with AM3 socket, AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (QuadCore with 3.4GHz!) and 4GB of DDR3 RAM.
Sadly, I need to replace my old Power Supply; It wouldn't survive the QuadCore.

Makes 334,55€.

I could have bought a complete computer for that money, well, at least a office one.
A weaker Phenom II X4 (2.9GHz) with the same memory, additional harddrive, video card etc complete system would have easily cost me 600€, so I'm good to go.

This means, that I'll finally be able to enjoy 1080p videos without stuttering,
converting anime episodes won't take that long anymore
and I fucking won't need to turn off all graphical highlights in 4 year old games =D

Anyway, just for your information; I am kinda happy.

This upgrade will keep me in good shape for the next 3-5 years, I think.

....PS:
Fuck Intel.

Re-enabling Links in MSN 2009

So I know a lot of you guys are FURIOUS about Microsoft silently updating MSN for our 'security' while having the technology to fix the software.
Instead, if you want Links back in your MSN, you'd need to update to MSN 2011, which is so much more 'secure' for everybody.

But everybody who tested it knows:
It sucks badly.
Who needs Facebook, an inbuilt Internet Explorer, Bing and much more 'Social Media'-crap in his Instant Messenger?
It's gotten bloated and, frankly, mostly useless.

So, now, 10 days after they disabled hotlinks for the older MSN instances, someone found a fairly simple solution to reenable them.
While reading through the - mostly good and enjoyable - Comments on the Inside Windows Live-Blog, I found a comment posted yesterday which leads to the solution.

I'll just quote the instructions and link to the source page;
It is so easy, everybody can do this!

1) Download a free hex-editor program. I recommend XVI32.

2) Exit messenger completely.

3) Open XVI32, and then open the msnmgr.exe file that is located in your program files directory.
(better backup msnmgr.exe, in case it fucks up)

"C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe"

4) Click “search”, then “find”, search for “hotlinks” (without quotes).

5) change “hotlinks” into something else, of the equal amount of characters. I changed mine to “gotlinks”

6) Save the file

7) Restart MSN

You should be good to go.

Source with explanation WHY this simple solution actually works

So, there you go -
You just fucked M$ and got your links back :3

I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes

That is never going to happen.
Deal with it.
I won't just back down and shut up like most people do.

You liked Lemmings? You'll love Clones!

Another Trailer

Clones is a friendly, fun, and engaging evolution to the classic Lemmings puzzle genre
which includes robust internet-multiplayer with team play, different game modes, powerups, leaderboards, and a built-in level editor that was used to create
the singleplayer campaign of over 150 clontastic puzzles spanning 11 CloneMaster bosses over 5 regions of the Clones Planet.

(More information on it's store page)

So I'm quite interested in this game.
It looks like a fun experience, isn't too expensive (8.99€/$ right now) and seems somehow challenging.

As I am a fan of the old Lemmings-games, this seems pretty promising, and I'm excited about the multiplayer mode and the level editor.

I’m now about 5 levels in and I love it.
It’s got the typical Lemmings-flair, fluffy humor
and isn’t only ‘get your clones to the exit’ but offers you other challenges to solve in the levels

(like collecting all qdot-points)

But the controls are getting kinda complicated; it’s not as simple as one would think - there is more than meets the eye, which is a good thing!

If you're into puzzles, lemmings or cute games in general,
you should definitely check the game!

Alien Breed: Descent released!

Remember me talking about Alien Breed: Impact? Sure you do.

Well, I haven't yet finished it.
I haven't picked up Alien Breed 2: Assault yet, because I am still waiting for a Trilogy-bundle.

Today, the last part, Alien Breed: Descent was released for PC and XBox.
While Steam gives 10% off, making the game 8,09€ right now instead of 8,99€, I am still waiting for the bundle (or a sale?).

But hey! T17 and Steam lowered the Pricetag of Impact to match the other two games!
Now all of them are 8,99€ each.

I have played through the demos of all three games, and yes, T17 knows how to make people want to continue playing.
These cliffhangers were extremely cool.

Descent will bring the story around Conrad and the Leopold to an end.
You will uncover the whole extent of the Breed, you will learn the Truth about the events, and it sure will be exciting!

Alien Breed excels at its plot;
While it doesn't bother you with too much cutscenes and detail, the plot and characters are well written.
Most information is delivered through collectible data slates, which also give you more info about how to find the alien types.

Every part of the trilogy comes with a Guest Pass;
Send your pass to a friend and he/she will have the opportunity to play the FULL game for a limited time!
If you want to test Coop-mode, this is a nice service!

I sure am excited for Descent, so I don't know if I'll be able to wait for the trilogy set which is scheduled for early 2011, once the PS3's version is fully out.

Edit:
I picked up Impact and continue my earlier gaming progress.

FFXIV: “So Bad They Gave Players A Third Free Month”

LOLOLOLOLOL!!!

I'll just quote Sankaku Complex here, I'm too busy rolling on the floor, laughing my guts out!

Square Enix have announced the remaining players of Final Fantasy XIV will be given a third free month, possibly a result of player numbers having reached their lowest ever despite the game still being free.

Their announcement blithely fails to mention why they are suddenly feeling so generous (although their CEO is more honest, to investors at least):

As always, we would like to express our gratitude to all players enjoying their adventures in Eorzea.

Today, we have decided to extend the free trial period an additional 30 days. Please refer to the following for more details.

We have also added a Topics post detailing a portion of the content heading your way in the two large-scale version updates slated for late November and mid-December.

This month’s version update, tentatively scheduled for November 25, marks the first step in bringing about significant improvement to FINAL FANTASY XIV, guided in large part by the feedback you, the players, have provided. We are adamant that you should be given the opportunity to experience these changes firsthand before deciding to fully commit to the game.

The two month extended trial was about to end, which had triggered speculation that player populations would collapse catastrophically, rather than gradually as they appear to be at present.

Average daily player populations continue to plummet, standing at 24,277 at the latest count:

Square Enix did announce a very extensive patch and generally appear to be desperately trying to rescue the game, but it would appear to be a case of too little, too late – PS3 players may find their version comparatively polished when it is released in 2011, though it appears they will be joining empty servers.

Rules of Common Sense (@TheColorless)

A couple of days ago 4 new rules got introduced to my favorite community -
TheColorless.net

  1. Posting identical messages repeatedly is not permitted.

  2. Posting illegal, offensive, adult, racist and other inappropriate materials is prohibited.

  3. Let's keep our boards clean: No unconstructive poll-type posts, no forum games, no countdowns.

  4. Search the threads for answers before asking questions: The thread might have been already created.
Thread

Well, not really.
Most of these rules have been around for ages.
I'd like to call these rules 'Rules of Common Sense', if you allow so.

The first rule says 'no spamming'. Good thing. Simple as that.

The second rule states that we don't want filesharing through the public boards, no other illegal material, no child porn, and, in general, to think about what we are posting.

We should always consider that younger people visit the forums as well, so excessive hentai pictures are a no-go.
You wouldn't zap through Television and start watching porn when a child is around, right?

Insulting doesn't mean 'stop cursing' either, though you shouldn't get overly excessive using swear words.
Everybody uses them once in a while, they are strong words.
You just shouldn't get personal and insult other users.

This is an elemental part of human interaction.
Having different opinions and heated arguments isn't a bad thing, more like the opposite, but you shouldn't attack your opponent personally.
If you're not sure if what you're saying crosses a line, better don't post it.
If you do post it, apologize if it hurts the other person.

Actually, I had an argument with some users about Console Controllers just yesterday.
I'm all for Sony's DualShock, while @teolandon is a fan of Gamecube and Xbox controllers.
When the discussion heated up a bit, he simply added this line to his post:
P.S. @DarkChaplain sorry if I abused you, that’s only my opinion.

I didn't even consider the situation bad, he didn't say anything wrong - but he was still being polite and didn't get all worked up.
We joked about it and things were fine, more talking.

The point I'm trying to make is:
You can have your opinion, you can have your point, but don't force them onto other people and don't get insulting.
Be polite, consider your opponent's point of view and listen.

This way, not only the talking people, but also all those who might read the thread will enjoy your discussion.

Don't be a purple asshat, considering yourself the greatest thing of all time and your thoughts the only truth.

The third rule is actually the one most people argue against.
Forum Games and Countdowns have never been clearly banned before, but people started posting just too many of them on the Games-board.

This sub-board was meant for Videogames, Cardgames, whatever real Games there are and people would like to talk about.
The threads about Pokemon or Final Fantasy, for example, are actually quite interesting - discussions and recommendations everywhere.

BUT Forum Games flooded the section; a lot of people excluded the Games-board completely from their front pages.
The FGs actually flood the whole front page as well, making it hard to find the serious topics.
New threads have been on page 3+ right after they have been posted in the past.

FGs actually don't have any value aside from boosting the spammers post counts.
"Counting to 3 and rape/marry/kidnap the person before you?"
That isn't even challenging!

There has been quite an uproar about the outstanding deletion of these threads and correction of post counts,
but most users agree with this new rule.

The forum should be a place for everybody to enjoy, to talk to each other, to discuss.
There will be more relaxing topics, there will be real entertainment.
Don't worry, this change is for the better!

The fourth rule simply tells you to search for similar/doubled threads before posting something new.
There is a nice search widget, using Google's engine.

Most threads are kind of unique anyway, but asking for DeviantArt-usernames or stuff like that is probably somewhere on the forums already.

Now people got upset about the 'unclear' parts of the rules, which frankly don't exist.
'Inappropriate materials' are going to be judged by the moderators, yes.
But no moderator would simply remove threads or posts, or even ban you, without a good reason.

While we have a strong banhammer-mod, I never experienced him banning without good reasons.
Maybe that's just me, but I respect his opinion, and I never had a problem with his reasoning.

Trust the mods, don't doom the community beforehand.

Now some users call our admin, @Gargron or short Gar, a God.
This is probably due to our old profile layouts,
where admins were called 'Gods', moderators 'Demi Gods' and normal users 'Proud Mortals'.

I honestly don't care if he's called a God or not, but I highly appreciate his work.
Simple as that.

We all know that Gar is just a mere mortal as well, no almighty god.
We all know that not even he, who is still working to make Colorless a better place for all of us, is flawless.

I won't deny that he is more talented when it comes to coding than administrating the community itself, but still, he does great.

Colorless has been running for more than half a year now, from chat-only without registrations to a full fledged community.
It is still growing and evolving!

Gargron pays the fees. Renting a server and all these things.
Now he added native image uploads, which will cost him another bunch of bucks.
Yes, the ads are supporting him, but that is not nearly enough.
It's his money.

Considering this, do you think it would be wrong to at least appreciate his work?
To be thankful for this awesome community?
Critics won't hurt him, but please, stay polite and use facts.

What I read yesterday, for example, made me wanna puke my guts out - Screenshot on the side.

Attacking Gar for finally 'enforcing' common rules is utterly wrong and disgusting.

Also, he is not a totalitarian Fuhrer like Adolf Hitler.
Aside from the fact, that he owns the site and may do what he wants on there,

These rules have been APPRECIATED, ACCEPTED
and even SUGGESTED by the community.

Just a few people stood up against these rules, or more like against Gar's leading style.

Not swallowing new stuff right away is a good thing, yes.
Think about stuff yourself, yes.

But don't forget that there are indeed things, you might accept.
Not everything you see is wrong, even if your sworn enemy might show it to you.

Put personal differences behind and consider the matter of fact.

I believe in the value of The Colorless.
I believe that most of our users are good people, even friends.
I believe that it is now time to mature, even just slightly, as a community.

Once in a while, threads about 'making the world a better place'-projects come up.
We never really got to do something as a whole, mostly because of us being scattered all over the world.

But these ideas, these ideals, are something that inspires the community, that gives us some kind of identity.

We aren't 4chan. We aren't facebook.
We aren't restricted to social fields, not to countries.
We are creative, thinking, loving men and women.
We are free people.

We don't choose a Color to gather under.

We are The Colorless

How the @BlackLibrary lost a Customer...

...at least when it comes to digital releases.
I will still buy the hardcopied books - I just can't stop!

Yesterday "A Thousand Sons" was released as digital only (mp3) - an unabridged Audiobook!
Amazing, especially when you consider that "Horus Rising" and its successors are going to be abridged versions only.

But then again, you can buy them anywhere you want, due to their hardcopy-nature.

The digital range of BL-products, though, can only be accessed by buying them directly from blacklibrary.com.
That wouldn't be bad, although buying books from (online)stores near your place is a lot of faster (and mostly cheaper, due to missing shipping costs).

The thing is, that the Black Library STILL does only accept Payment via Credit Card.
No Paypal or Bank Transfer, like the regular Games Workshop-Store already does.

Black Library just went digital but doesn't even think of providing new payment options to support their digital course.

When I recently asked them via email, I got this response:

Hi,

We are concentrating on getting our digital systems online and a few
other site upgrades at present and so have no plans to introduce Paypal
payments for our checkout at this point in time.

Many banks offer prepaid Mastercard or Visa cards, it may be worth
asking yours if they offer this service.

Sincerely

Ragnar Karlsson
Direct Sales Manager
Black Library
www.blacklibrary.com

While they are surely after my money, hence the redirecting to my bank, they're not considering making it easier for their customers to buy their books.

This is, without a doubt, both a shame and kinda stupid.

They lost me as a regular buyer of "Hammer and Bolter" and a lot of fancy stuff coming out in the future.

While their mother company/shop already has different payment methods running and sells most recent BL-books already, I am hoping that the digital range might be received through Games Workshop's store in the future as well.

Til then, you lost me, BL.

Now I won't pay you another 20 GBP for somebody reading a book to me I already own. Too bad.

Preview: Garro - Oath of Moment

Download

Preorder at the Black Library

Description:
In surviving the horrors on board the Eisenstein, Nathaniel Garro proved his courage and absolute loyalty to the Emperor. On his return to Terra, Garro is despatched on a mission of even greater importance – a mission given to him by Malcador the Sigillite himself. He soon finds himself back amongst the stars and on the fields of battle, thrust into a warzone where the Ultramarines battle a greenskin invasion. Once again Garro must fight for survival, but now he also fights to achieve a higher purpose...

James Swallow

Toby Longworth

"Garro: Oath of Moment" is going to be the first part of the Black Library's new Garro-series. It's successor, "Legion of One" will be released in April 2011.

Additionally, the series takes place while the Horus Heresy is devastating the Galaxy.

To tell the truth - I am extremely hyped.
I really need to learn more about Nathaniel, one of the Heresy's heroes who's fate is unclear.

Nathaniel Garro.
Do you remember him?
Hero of the Flight of the Eisenstein?

To recollect our memories:

Nathaniel Garro was the Battle-Captain of the Death Guard's 7th Company during the Great Crusade.
During the Preaxior campaign, he forged a strong bond with Saul Tarvitz from the Emperor's Children Legion, his sworn honour-brother, when they saved each other's lifes.

On Isstvan Extremis, he lost most of his right leg while fighting alongside the Emperor's Children.

This wound, though, changed the fate of the Heresy.

When the Warmaster Horus decided to exterminate the parts of the traitor legions that wouldn't follow him but stay loyal to the Emperor of Mankind by sending them to Isstvan III and bomb the planet with the Life-Eater virus,
Garro wasn't cleared for battle duty, because he couldn't yet control his augmentic leg-replacement.

This caused him to be stationed on the frigate Eisenstein, and when Saul Tarvitz, who learned about the Warmaster's schemes, entered the atmosphere of Isstvan III, their brotherhood and trust proved stronger than Garro's loyalty to the Warmaster.
He aided the chased Tarvitz and spread the word of the betrayal to the leading Captains of all legions.

That way, the Death Guard, Emperor's Children, Sons of Horus and World Eaters got the chance to take cover and seal themselves from the Virus and the following firestorm.

Shortly after, Garro picked up other victims of the betrayal, Iacton Qruze of the Sons of Horus, who had already fought alongside the Emperor during the unification wars, and the remembrancer Euphrati Keeler (who strengthened Garro's faith in the Emperor) amongst them.

When trying to flee, the Eisenstein got crippled and barely managed to enter the Warp, but there the crew had to fend of the abominations of the Chaos God Nurgle, which resulted in the death of their navigator and they emergency exited the warp.

Stranded in space, Garro decided to overload and jettison the Warp engines into space, which luckily caught the attention of Rogal Dorn, the Imperial Fist's Primarch, who rescued the Eisenstein.

After one of the Eisenstein's crew got lured by father Nurgle's presents of Decay, Garro was able to banish the daemonic entity, aided by the Sisters of Silence.

Garro, Qruze and the leader of the Sisterhood were brought to Malcador, the Sigillite and warned the Emperor.

It seems like Malcador made these three Leaders to the first members of the Inquisition:

"The Imperium requires men and women of inquisitive nature, hunters who might seek the witch, the traitor, the mutant, the xenos...a duty to vigilance"

~ Malcador the Sigillite

Final Fantasy for GBA

This is something I wanted to do for quite some time now, and I would have already forgotten about it, if it weren't for a thread on the Colorless-forums I read today.

After all this frustration of Square Enix's failure, this collection might taste bitter-sweet and nostalgic.

I collected all Final Fantasy Games that were released for the Game Boy Advance (at least those translated in english)
and decided to release them together with a fitting (and working) emulator so that all those who haven't played the first parts of the series might finally enjoy them.

This bundle includes:
  • Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls

  • Final Fantasy IV

  • Final Fantasy V

  • Final Fantasy VI

  • Final Fantasy Tactics

in all their Advance-ports.
Final Fantasy III was never released for the Game Boy, though SE released a NDS-remake.

Download:
Rapidshare.com
Uploaded.to
Megaupload.com
Via Nyaatorrents

To play the games, you will simply need to start the VisualBoyAdvance.exe and open up your desired game.
Configure your controls the way you like, though the default choices are pretty good.
Better don't change the Save Type (Options->Emulator->Save Type->???)! 'Automatic' is your best choice!

One nice feature is that you'll be able to speed the game up by holding a button (default: space); that way, you can train much more effectively.

Now have fun and enjoy the games that made Final Fantasy great!

You and the Dark Lord Cthulhu~

Anybody who didn't already notice that South Park Season 14 was Epic from the beginning should have changed his/her mind after episode 12.

Episode 12, called "Mysterion Rises" continues the events of episode 11 - "The Coon 2: Hindsight" and is gonna be succeeded by another episode next week (Nov.10).

While the BP Company brought up another oil spill last week, they tried to get rid of the problems by drilling another hole into the moon -
resulting in the reawakening of Cthulhu.

This week's episode deals with that problem.
While Coon and Friends, who banished Cartman aka 'The Coon' from their group, try to find out what the cults of Cthulhu are and do,

Cartman tries to side with Cthulhu himself - to get rid of the other kids.

We get to see A HELL LOT of fanservice for everybody familiar with H.P.Lovecraft's work -
from the Arkham Horror game expansion on a shelf in the cult's meeting room to chanting the "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"-lines.

Mysterion, his identity cleared up, tries to deal with the meaning of the most famous rhyme out of the Necronomicon:

That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die

Even the Goth Kids are in the cult, waiting for the dark lord Cthulhu to' get rid of all the posers and make everything cool and black and stuff'.

Next week we'll see the brilliant finale, but this episode didn't cease to fuck our brains yet!

BEHOLD MIGHTY CTHULHU!

You should be able to watch the episode(s) on Southparkstudios.com or regional equivalents - for free!

Babysitting Mama - Wii-T-F?!

...and here I am, thinking that Nintendo couldn't possibly get more ridiculous...
I. was. so. wrong!

Just watch that Launch Trailer and get your mind raped:

BUT HEY!
...now girls won't need to get themselves pregnant at the sweet age of 16, no!
They can fully rely on the Wii to feed their desire for Babies! =D

And for the missing sexual stimulation - just use the Wiimote, girl!
